On New Year's Eve, eight Worcester leaders reflected on strategies for building peace in 2017 at Community Voices of Peace, a First Night program held at the First Unitarian Church in Worcester.  It was a wonderful way to begin the new year.

Peer Mediation at Claremont Academy

On August 25 and 26, seventeen high school students from Claremont Academy gave up their last days of summer vacation to participate in a two-day training in peer mediation, with instructor Karen Thomsen. The training, which took place at Clark University, was sponsored by the Center for Nonviolent Solutions in collaboration with Claremont.

Summer Youth Peace Education

As the summer wound down, we had the unique opportunity to facilitate youth nonviolence courses at the Wiogora School of Wisdom and Wonder - a Hogwarts/Harry Potter themed day camp at First Unitarian Church in Worcester.

Afterschool Youth Peace Education

We are pleased to be working in our second 15-week session of the 21st Century Community Learning Centers Grant at Sullivan Middle School (Sullivan). The program runs every Wednesday from 3:30-5:30 with about 50 students at Sullivan, and through collaboration with the teachers, our facilitators help students understand conflict assessment and transformation through interactive activities.
