We Grow Into Courage

We Grow Into Courage

We Grow into Courage is a multi-media presentation on women who worked for civil rights in the American South. Through dramatic readings and song, presenters tell the early history of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) as remembered by its female activists. Texts are excerpted from Hands on the Freedom Plow: Personal Accounts by Women in SNCC. Edited by Faith S. Holsaert, Martha Prescod Norman Noonan, Betty Garman Robinson, Jean Smith Young, and Dorothy Zellner.  The performance runs about an hour and twenty minutes.

We Grow into Courage is a public education project of the Center highlighting a nonviolent social movement. Readers have performed multiple times at Worcester area colleges, the Worcester Public Library, and the New York Catholic Worker in New York City. A performance is forthcoming at Siena College, Albany, New York.  There is no set fee for our performance. Honorariums are greatly appreciated. To book a performance for your school or organization, please contact us at inquiry@nonviolentsolutions.org.
